Each Gingr app comes with a range of pre-made GingrU Courses that show how to use basic, intermediate, and advanced features and tasks within the software. Additionally, Custom GingrU Courses can be created to tailor training resources to fit the needs of your business.
Courses consist of Steps, which each contain an instructional video and at least one question to assess understanding.
Before You Begin
- To create or modify a course, users must have the permission enabled to Manage GingrU Courses. This permission can be assigned by navigating to Left-hand Navigation: Reports & More » Groups:

To create a Custom GingrU Course, you will need to prepare the material that will be covered in it. This includes developing a course outline, recording instructional videos, and creating questions to assess understanding. There are a number of platforms and apps available outside of Gingr which can provide tools to record and edit video content and screen recordings.

Once recorded, we recommend uploading videos to Vimeo for use in Custom GingrU Courses.
How to Create A Custom GingrU Course
There are three areas to complete when creating a new Custom GingrU Course.
The first area is called Course Details and covers the name, description, and bullet points detailing the topics covered in the course. This information is displayed when a user views the GingrU page and assists the user in selecting the appropriate course to complete.
The second and third areas together contain the Steps within the course. The Step Details include the name, video, and description of each Step. Below that, the Step Questions contain questions with multiple choice answers.
Create A New Course

Navigate to the '?' icon in the upper right corner of your app » GingrU
- Select the blue Create a Course button toward the upper right area of the page.
- In the Course Details section, input the Name of your Course and a brief description.
- Use the grey +Add Bullet Point button to list topics covered in your custom GingrU Course.
Create Steps and Upload Videos
For each Step in the Custom GingrU Course, follow the steps below:
- In the Course Steps section, select the blue Add Step button. Step 1 is added by default.
- Under Step 1 Details, input the Name of the Step and a brief description.
The Description field can also be utilized for any text instruction, charts, photos, or videos that should be included in addition to the main Step video.
- If the Step video is hosted on Vimeo, paste the video URL into the Vimeo Video URL field.
Otherwise, upload the video by selecting the Browse button in the Upload Video field.
Steps that have previously had a video attached will display a blue banner stating A video has been set for this step. Click here to replace it. in place of the Vimeo Video URL and Upload Video fields.
- Create additional Steps as needed by repeating instructions 1-3 above.
Each step can be accessed later by selecting the Step to the left of the blue Add Step button.
Create Questions for Each Step
- In the Course Steps section, select Step 1.
- Under Step 1 Questions, select the blue Add Question button. Question 1 is added to each Step by default. Each Step must contain at least one Question.
- Input the Question and at least one Option (Answer).
- To add additional Options up to five per Question, select the grey +Add Option button.
To remove unneeded Options, select the red Delete button beside the Option to be removed.
- Indicate at least one Option as correct by selecting the toggle marked "Correct?".
If more than one Option is marked Correct, users must select ALL correct options to move forward to the next Step.
- Create additional Questions within a Step by repeating instructions 2-5 above.
Be sure to create Questions for each Step in the Custom GingrU Course.
