Overview: What are we talking about?
This article will cover the numerous settings that control your app preferences. Many features and functions in Gingr are controlled by system-wide settings. Please note that these settings, as their name might elude, control your entire application—and all locations entered.Below you will find a Field Guide to help you understand each of the available settings.
Helpful Hints: Before you begin.
- Only those in the Admin User Group can manage these settings.
- If you're looking for the definition of a specific setting/ field, search the page, use Command + F (mac) or Control + F (PC) and type in a keyword to find the field you are looking for. This will jump you directly to that field.
How to: Configure System-Wide Settings.
- Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » System-Wide Settings.
- For each setting, select yes/on to enable, or no/off to disable. Some fields will require that you input information - all of those are described in the field guide below.
- Save your configurations: Click Update Changes (or Cancel to discard changes).

Send Expired Immunization Reminder Email | If enabled ('Yes/On'), emails will be sent to customers whose pets vaccination records will expire within 30 days, or have already expired. | IMPORTANT: if this setting is turned on when you switch on your Global Email settings, all owners in your system who have pets with expired or missing vaccination records, and whose animals are not marked as 'deactivated,' will receive emails reminding them of their vaccination due dates. |

Send Check In SMS | If enabled ('Yes/On'), an SMS (text) will be sent to the customer when the pet is checked in. | |
Send Agreement Signed Email | If enabled ('Yes/On'), an email will be sent to the customer when an agreement is signed. | |
Send New Reservation SMS | If enabled ('Yes/On'), an SMS (text) will be sent to the customer's cell phone when a new reservation is created. | |

Default Start Time and Default End Time |
The times you enter in these fields control the entire range of times available in the time pickers in your app. Please enter times in military time format. I.e. 1 pm is entered as 1300 and 7:30 am is entered as 0730.

Colloquial Dates | If enabled ('yes/on'), dates and times in your app will appear like "about 10 days ago" and "in about 3 hours" instead of using normal date and time formats. | |

Accent color | This allows you to change the color of the main header in Gingr, along with accents throughout the app. | Defaults to Gingr Red |
E-signature background color | If you are using Gingr's integrated credit card processing, this is the background color for the tablet's 'e-signature' page. | If this field is left blank, the background will be 'wood.' |
E-signature box color | This is the color of the boxes in the foreground of the e-signature page. | By default, they are white |
Email template button color | You can choose a color to customize the background color of the button in an email template for system-generated emails. | |
Legal disclaimer | Setting this field allows you to customize the text at the bottom of the reservation request form on the portal. If set, customers are required to check the box on the reservation request prior to accepting their request. | IMPORTANT: this text does not give you any real legal protection, as there is no way to easily prove the customer actually agreed to it. Please consider using our Agreements feature instead of, or in addition to this text. |
Send new standing reservation email | If enabled ('Yes/On'), an Email will be sent to the customer's email address when a new standing reservation is created. | |
Require valid immunization records before customers can request reservations | If enabled ('Yes/On'), customers have to provide valid immunization records before they can request a reservation online. | |

Allow new customer registration | If enabled ('Yes/On'), customers will be able to register in Gingr through your customer portal. | |
Override new customer registration password | If text is entered in this field, it becomes a password that is required in order for customers to register in your customer-facing app. | |
Customer can enter weight | If disabled ('no/off'), entering animal weight will be turned "off" in the customer side of the app. (If enabled 'yes/on' customers will be able to enter their pet's weight from their side of the app.) | |
Allow packages on any type | If enabled ('Yes/On'), you will be able to apply package credits to any reservation type. | This will allow you to use (for example) daycare package credits toward boarding charges. |
Allow packages at any location | Use this field if your business has multiple locations (or is a franchise). If enabled, this will allow customers to use package credits at any location. | Ask us if you need help with this field. |
Allow Package Credits Greater Value | If enabled ('Yes/On'), the system will allow you to apply a package credit for a reservation that costs less than what the package's reservation type costs. If you enable this setting, you must enable the "Allow packages on any type" setting. | Use this field if you allow packages on any type, have packages priced differently, and want to allow low priced packages to be used on higher priced reservations. |
Allow open line items | If enabled ('Yes/On'), there will be an open line item field in the shopping cart, in which you will be able to enter arbitrary items and charges. | |
Allow same day reservation requests | If enabled, your customers will be able to request reservations online at any time. If disabled, customers will not be able to request reservations on the same calendar day (starting midnight that day). | |
Next day reservation request cutoff | If you want to create a cutoff time after which customers cannot make a reservation request for the next day, enter that time here in military time. | I.e. 1 pm is entered as 1300 and 7:30 am is entered as 0730. |
Allow customers add to waitlist | If enabled ('yes/on'), customers will be able to add themselves to the waitlist from their side of the app. | |
Allow customers view estimates | If enabled ('yes/on'), will allow customers to generate estimates for their reservations via the Customer Portal. | |
Show employee notes on dashboard | If enabled ('yes/on'), will display a little pencil icon under a pet's name on the dashboard, if employee notes have been entered for the pet or their owner. Clicking on the pencil icon displays the notes. | If your computer screen faces the customer, you may want to disable this setting so as to protect internal notes. |
Dashboard button text (1 & 2) | here are spaces for two customizable buttons on the dashboard (under the Quick Check-In button). If you wish to create buttons here, enter the text for the buttons in these fields. | |
Dashboard button URL (1 & 2) | This is the URL (web address) your button will go to. It MUST be a page within Gingr and you will not enter the full URL. If you want the button to link to the Facility Calendar, go to the Facility Calendar and copy the part of the URL that follows http://your_business.gingrapp.com. | For example, for the Facility Calendar, you would enter /calendar into this field. For the Lodging Calendar, you would enter /calendar/lodging_calendar into this field. |
Global Email On | This is the master switch for sending emails from your Gingr app. If this is set to 'no/off,' no emails will send from your app. (This is good for when you are practicing and testing!) If it is set to 'yes/on,' whatever automated emails you have set to 'yes/on' in the above settings will send from Gingr automatically, in addition to immunization reminder emails to customers. | Important! if the "send vaccination reminder email" setting is turned on when you turn your Global Email setting on, all owners in your system who have pets with expired or missing vaccination records, and whose animals are not marked as 'banned,' will receive emails reminding them of their vaccination due dates. |
Global SMS On | This is the master switch for text messages (SMS) sending from your Gingr app. If it is set to 'yes/on,' all automated SMS that are set to 'yes/on' in the above settings will send from your app. If it is set to 'no/off,' no SMS will send from your app. | |
Default Manual Confirm | If enabled ('yes/on'), 'Confirm for Customer?' will be preselected every time an employee creates a new reservation for a customer. | The selection can be changed during reservation creation. |
Show feeding report on report card | If enabled ('yes/on'), the information entered for a pet on the feeding report will show up on the pet's report cards, if report cards are created. | |

Lodging weight variance | You may enter a number in this field to represent a percentage of a pet's weight that the Lodging system will allow a variance for. For example, if you enter 25 in this field (for 25%), and a pet's weight is 50 Lbs, the system will check for and display lodgings with a maximum weight between 36 and 63 Lbs. | If you have a lodging set with a maximum weight of 80 Lbs, by adding a variance, the system will show you lodgings with a maximum weight relatively close to 80 Lbs. |

Display report cards as | If you want to rename report cards, enter your new name here. | Important! Please enter the name in its singular form. The system will pluralize it for you where appropriate. Also note that the system will only recognize singular quotes, not double quotes, when entered into this field (e.g. you would enter 'Play'Card instead of "Play"Card) |
Display report card friends as | You can change the name of the "Friends" field on report cards to whatever you wish. For example: "Favorite Playmates." | |
Widget on Dashboard | This will show or hide the little calendar widget at the top and center of your dashboard. | |
Alter by month | You can set the number of months, and if an animal has not been altered after that age there will be a special icon on the dashboard for that pet. |
This setting defaults to 6 months, but you can input any number of months you choose. The icon on the dashboard is a male/female symbol. |
End of Day Report Sections | The items in this field are the sections of the End of Day Report that will be viewable by all users who do not have permission to view full financial reports (User Permission setting). Users who have permission to view financial reports will see ALL End of Day Report sections when running the report. You may restrict which fields users can see by deleting any of the words from the field. | End of Day Report Sections include:

Allow quick checkout with services | If enabled ('Yes/On'), this allows you to use the quick checkout feature with reservations that have services attached to them. | |
Apply coupons to final modifiers | If disabled ('no/off'), coupons applied to a line item will only apply to the base rate and not to any "Final Rate Modifiers," such as Check in before/after, Check out Before/after, Specific Date, minutes after last 24 hour period... | |

Allow coupons cart-wide | If enabled, you will be able to apply coupons to all line items in the cart at once. There will be a drop-down menu in the upper left of your cart called 'Coupons - Modify the entire the cart,' where you can select a coupon to apply to the entire cart. | |
Show icons cart | If disabled ('no/off'), you will not see the custom animal icons/ color codes in the shopping cart. | |
Weather widget dashboard | If disabled ('no/off'), the weather widget will not appear on your dashboard. | |
Require cancellation reasons customers | If enabled ('yes/on'), this will require that customers provide a reason when they cancel a reservation | |
Facility Calendar group by type | This setting is defaulted to 'yes/on' and will display a number before each reservation type on the Facility Calendar, showing how many of each reservation type is scheduled, for example, "3-Boarding." | If disabled ('no/off'), each individual reservation is shown in its own date tile and spans across the dates of the reservation. The ability to disable it is intended particularly for smaller facilities with fewer reservations. |
Facility Calendar limit default hours | If enabled (set to 'yes/on'), the Facility Calendar will only display times between the Default Start Time and Default End Time found on this (System-wide Settings) page. | |
Allow bulk report card creation | If disabled ('no/off'), the 'Create a report card for all checked in pets' button will not be visible on the Create a Report Card page. If enabled, you will see this button and be able to create report cards in bulk. | |
Require Owner for Transactions | If enabled ('yes/on'), it will be required that an owner is selected for every transaction. This means that in order to make any purchase a customer will have to have an owner profile in Gingr. | |

Email Template Signature | Enter a message here to appear as your signature at the bottom of all system-generated emails, as well as emails manually sent to a customer. | |
Customer portal add credit custom text | Enter a message here to display to your customers when they try to add a credit via the Customer Portal. Use this field to instruct them how you'd like them to use this page. | |
Customer app CSS | f you would like to implement custom cascading sheets (CSS) in the customer app, you can opt to have a web designer design the CSS for you. Paste it here in this field. | Important! We cannot help you with this setup. It is entirely up to you and your web designer to implement CSS for your customer app. |
Customer app JS | If you would like to embed custom JavaScript in the customer app, paste it here in this field. This is useful for things like Google AdWords tracking. | Important! Default Dashboard Section | From the drop-down menu, choose the section of the Dashboard that loads by default. | |
Share Vets Across Locations | If set to yes/on and you have multiple locations within your app, your veterinarian list will be shared across all locations. | |
Survey Trigger Alert Threshold | The number correlates with values on the range sliders on your survey form. If you set the number for Survey Trigger Alert Threshold to "5" and a customer leaves a rating on a slider that is 5 or less, that customer will not receive your custom message upon submitting the form, and the designated employees will receive a notification letting them know negative feedback was given. | |
Show Dashboard Notices Alert | If set to yes/on, when loading the dashboard, a pop-up will appear displaying the title of each daily notice the user is tagged in, which they have not yet read. | |
One Deposit Per Family | If set to yes/on, if a customer is making reservations for multiple pets, with the same reservation type and dates, and a deposit requirement is set up for that reservation type and those dates, only one deposit will be required instead of a deposit for each of the pets' reservations. | |
Use intl datepicker immunizations | If enabled, the immunization feature will provide 3 drop-down menus to select Month/Day/Year. If disabled, the immunization feature will provide a text box which must be entered in MM/DD/YYYY format. | |

Allow requests over capacity | If enabled, customers will be able to create reservation requests even when capacity limits have been reached. Employees will be shown a notification that capacity has been reached when accepting the request. | |
Reservation Request Button Text | This is the main text customers will click on when they want to request services from your business. | |
Use Legacy Appointment Calendar | If enabled, you will see the old Appointment Calendar in addition to the new Facility Calendar in your app. | |

Upload allowed filetypes | This setting controls allowable file types for upload within your app. To include all file types input an asterisk * in this field. To restrict file types enter them in the following format: jpg|pdf|mp4|etc | File types must be separated by the pipe | character. Do not include periods or spaces. If you have a question about this format, submit a support ticket and we'd be happy to help! |
Allow timeclock cross days | This setting, if set to Yes/On will allow employee timeclock entries to cross days. | |
Default Charge Medication Type | If set to Yes/On, any new medication type entered into the system will have the "Charge for Administration" setting set to Yes/On. If set to No/Off, any new medication type entered will have the "Charge for Administration" setting set to "No/Off." | |
Allow Multiple Service Comp | If set to Yes/On, pricing rules will allow multiple services of the same type to be comped within a single reservation if multiple pricing rules dictate that the service should be comped. If set to No/Off, only one service of each type can be comped per reservation type. | |
Lodging Last Day Reservation | If set to Yes/On, the system will require a lodging assignment for the last day of a reservation for a type that requires lodging assignments. If set to No/Off, the system will not request nor allow a lodging assignment on the last day of a reservation. | |
Master Logo | If your business has multiple locations within your app, each location can have their own logo, which will display on the customer side of the application for owners who are set up with that home location. | If a Master Logo is uploaded here, this logo will display on the customer portal login page. When the customer logs in, the logo for their home location will display. |
Allow customers create options forms | When disabled, customers will not be able to create their own options for dropdown menus (like the Breed field). | |
Tip amounts | To indicate the tip amounts that customers can leave when processing a credit card transaction using Gingr's integrated credit card processing, enter a comma-separated list (no spaces) of percentage amounts. | An example would look like this: 10,15,20,25,30. We do not recommend entering more than 6 amounts. |

Peak dates charge by calendar date | If turned on, peak date pricing rules will charge for every applicable calendar date of the reservation, rather than using the reservation type's "charge by" setting (every night, every 24 hours, etc.) | |
Allow customers pay deposits | If enabled, ('Yes/On'), this setting will allow customers to pay their deposits online via the Customer Portal. This setting only pertains to US facilities that use Gingr's Integrated Credit Card Processing. | |
Lodging calendar cell text size | This setting will determine how large the text is on your Lodging Calendar. | |
Broadly Request Positive Survey Only | If enabled ('Yes/On'), a Broadly survey request will only be sent when a positive Gingr survey has been completed. | This setting requires a Broadly integration. |
Google Cloud Storage Bucket Name | Important! Please do not alter this field. If you are a business outside of the United States, we will set this up for you if necessary. | |
Owner files default visible to customers | If enabled, the default for uploaded owner files will be Shown to Customers. You can still update the status on a case by case basis, this setting only indicates the default preference. | |
Kisi api key | If using the Kisi Integration, enter your API key here. | Gingr is integrated with a service called Kisi (www.getkisi.com). Kisi's service allows you an easy-to-manage system to regulate security at your building or at work by allowing keyless entry. See here for more info. |

Gingr’s customer portal is now integrated with Sure (www.sureapp.com). Sure is an onlne insurance broker that makes buying pet insurance easier than ever. The pricing is identical to what one would pay for ASPCA insurance elsewhere, except that a 10% discount is offered for additional pets (>1) insured. |
