Overview: What are we talking about?
Medication Settings allow you to customize your Medication Reports and the information contained therein, such as schedule times, amounts, and medication types. In this article you will learn how to set up Medication Schedules, Amounts, Units, Types, and Report Statuses and how to configure related system settings.

Helpful Hints: Before you get started.
- You must be in the Admin user group to configure Medication Settings.
- These settings will appear both on the employee and customer side of Gingr.
Set it Up: Medication Settings.
Medication Schedules:
These are the names of your facility's times that you might distribute medication (AM, Lunch, PM, etc). These medication schedules will be presented as options when you or a customer edits an animal. Animals may be assigned more than 1 medication schedule, or none at all. To set these up:
- Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Medication.
- Click +Add.
- Enter a Time. For example: "AM" or "Lunch."
- Click Save or Save And Add Another.
- Repeat until you have set up all of the medication schedules you would like to choose from.
Medication Quantities:
These are the amounts of medication that can be selected in the drop-down menu. For example, if you wanted to be able to select 1/4 of a tablet, the Amount would be 1/4. We will set up "tablet" later.
- Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Medication » Medication Quantifies.
- Click +Add.
- Enter Quantity: You may enter anything you wish, including words or phrases.
- For occasions where a pet will need different amounts at different times, a "see notes" medication amount can be helpful. Then the medication instructions will be typed into the medication notes.

- Click Save.
Medication Units:
These are the units of measure that the medication amounts refer to, such as "tablets" or "mL"
- Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Medication » Medication Units.
- Click +Add
- Enter a Unit: This can be any unit of measure used for medication.
- Click Save.
Medication Types:
This allows you to optionally set up the types of medication animals may have.
- Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Medication » Medication Types.
- Click +Add.
- Enter Code: Enter a short code to identify the medication type.
- Enter Name: This can be any type of medication, vitamin, supplement, flea treatment, etc. that you may administer.
- Indicate whether this medication type should carry a Charge for Administration. This setting is related to the pricing Rules "Medication (per administration)" and "Medication (Daily Charge)"
- If you have set up one of these pricing rules, selecting yes/on here will create a charge when the administration of this type is recorded on a medication report
- If you have set up one of these pricing rules, selecting yes/on here will create a charge when the administration of this type is recorded on a medication report
- Click Save.
- Repeat until you have set up all the medication types you would like to choose from.
Medication Statuses:
Statuses refer to the status of each specific medication administration, whether it's been prepared, distributed to the animal, taken, not taken, etc.
- Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Medication » Medication Statuses.
- Click +Add.
- Enter Status and whether or not the business will Charge for Administration when selected.

- Click Save.

Show medication report on report card | If set to 'yes/on' the information entered for a pet on the medication report will show up on the pet's report card. | Only if a report card is created. |
Show medication instructions on run card | If set to 'yes/on' the pet's medication instructions will appear on their run card. | When a run card is printed. |
Show medication chart on run card | If set to 'yes/on', the pet's medication chart will show up on their run card. | When a run card is printed. |
Reservation Type Settings:
On the medication report, you have the option to select one or more specific reservation type or type(s) at a time. To include a reservation type on this list, you must turn the setting on by going to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Reservation Types and Services Configuration.
Click on the booking category of the reservation type that you need to enable this for > click on the reservation type > click 'Edit Settings' > click into 'Check-In Options' > enable "Show bookings of this type on the medication report?"
