Overview: What are we talking about?

An automated discount can be set up to automatically give a discount to certain VIP pets. To do this, we will create a Pricing Rule.

This article includes:

Helpful Hints: Before you begin.

  • VIP discounts will only apply to animals that have the "VIP" setting enabled on their profile. More on that later.

Set it Up: Let's get started.

Creating a VIP Pricing Rule

  1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Pricing Rules.

  2. Select the Location, Reservation Type, and Pricing Rule Group.

  3. Click Add Rule to create a new discount.

Example:

Let's say that you give a $10 discount for your VIP clients. This will allow you to discount each unit of this type of reservation for all animals set as "VIP" within their profile. Discounts only the daily rate for this Reservation Type and will not affect rates for services or other items attached to the reservation.

Label Type Value Method Amount
VIP Discount VIP (Daily Rate) N/A Dollar -10.00

This will allow you to give a flat discount on the total of the reservation. This discount will apply to all animals that have the "VIP" setting enabled on their profile.

Label Type Value Method Amount
VIP Discount VIP (one time) N/A Dollar -10.00

Enabling the VIP Setting for an Animal

In order for your VIP pricing rules to apply, the pet(s) must have the "VIP" setting enabled on their profile.

To enable the VIP Setting:

  1. Navigate to the Animal Profile.

  2. Edit the animal's profile.

  3. Ensure that the "VIP?" setting is turned on.

  4. Save the profile.

Once this is complete, the system will generate a VIP tag on the pet profile, for easy identification.

Important! If you do not see this field on your animal form, contact support and we can assist you!

Creating Exceptions for VIP Rules

Some facilities might wish to not have their other discounts (multiple pet discounts, extended stay discounts, etc.) apply when a VIP discount is applying. This is easy to accomplish with a Pricing Rule Exception

To set up a Pricing Rule Exception:

Important! Exceptions can be tricky, so feel free to contact support if you need assistance implementing the following instructions!

  1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Pricing Rules.

  2. Select the Location, Reservation Type, and Pricing Rule Group that you want exception to work on

  3. Click the Wrench icon next to the discount that you'd like to negate when the VIP discount is in effect.

  4. Add an Exception to tell the system that the other discount "Is Less Than" the VIP discount you created.

  5. Save your Pricing Rules.

Important! You only need to create one exception for each rule type. If you have multiple pet discounts for 2, 3 and 4 additional animals, you only need to create a single exception and it will apply to all rules of that type.

Test Your Rules

As with any setup item, it is important to test to make sure it is functioning as expected. To see the VIP discount in action, create a new reservation from Left-hand Navigation: Reservations » New Reservation. In the example above, we created a VIP discount on Daycare | Full Day to give VIP animals a $10 discount on the daily rate of their reservation. To see this, we will create a Daycare | Full Day reservation for my VIP pet, Atlas Lee, and review the estimate to see the charge!
