Setting Up Types of Coupons

Overview: What are we talking about?

In Gingr, you set up types of coupons that you will commonly use to discount items and reservations at the time of check out.  

Helpful Hints: Before you begin.

• Before you get started, take a moment to list out items that you think you may need a coupon for. What items do you discount often? What situations do you discount for? What types of discounts have Gingr already automated for you? You will only set up coupons for those items you need to discount often but Gingr has not automated for you already.

Set it Up: Let's get started. 

We will only be covering the settings that you should configure for this topic. If you see a setting that is not listed, please leave it set to its default setting.

1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Coupons Types.
   
   
2. Add a coupon type and configure the following fields:
   
   
   • Location: Select the location that this coupon should be available for.
     
     
   • Code: Enter the name of the coupon.
     
     
   • Amount: Enter the amount that the coupon should discount (formatted as 00.00).
     
     
     • You can configure a coupon type to discount only by a dollar amount or a percentage.
       
       
   • Percent: Enter the percent that the coupon should discount (formatted as 00.00).
     
     
     • You can configure a coupon type to discount only by a dollar amount or a percentage.
       
       
   • Description: Describe this type of coupon.
     
     
   • Expiration Date: Enter the date that this coupon should be able to be used until.
     
     
     • If you want this coupon to always be available, then set the expiration date to a far off year (e.g. 2038)
       
       
   • Reusable: Select whether or not this coupon can be used on more than one transaction.
     
     
   • Once Per Owner: Select whether a pet parent can redeem this type of coupon more than one time.
     
     
3. Save and go back a page.
   
   
4. Repeat for any other types of coupons you may need.
