Overview: What are we talking about?

Gingr can automate fees that apply during specific date ranges in a year. This allows you to collect some extra revenue for reservations booked during your busiest time. Automating this in Gingr allows you to save time with one less thing to remember to add or keep track of.

Helpful Hints: Before you begin.

  • Before you get started, take a moment to list all of the date ranges where you charge a fee for reservations because they fall within a peak period of the year.

  • Gingr can apply a daily flat fee to reservations that fall within periods of the year that you specify.

  • If you are unsure whether or not your peak date pricing can be automated in Gingr, then please reach out to your onboarding specialist.

Set it Up: Let's get started.

The system will automatically create a surcharge for each unit of the reservation that falls within the date range. If you charge for boarding by the night, the charge will apply to every night which falls on a peak date. If you charge by the day, the charge will apply to each calendar date with a peak date rule.

  1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Pricing Rules.

  2. Select the Location and Reservation Type that you want this rule to apply to.

  3. Click Manage Peak Rates.Screen_Shot_2020-09-22_at_11.00.19_AM.png

  4. Under the Create New Rules section, configure and create peak date ranges with the following settings:

    • From Date: Enter the date that you want the peak date charge to start.

    • To Date: Enter the date that you want the peak date charge to end.

    • Type: Select dollar or percent to upcharge a flat dollar amount or a percentage of the reservation’s cost.

    • Amount: Enter the amount (in 00.00 format) that you want to charge per day during this peak date range.

    • Label: Name the peak date charge as you want it to appear on estimates, the shopping cart, and receipts.

    • Repeating: select this box if this date range should have a charge every year.
      • This is great for holidays and busy times that fall on the same date(s) every year

  5. Save your peak date range.

  6. Repeat for any other peak date ranges during the year that you want to charge for.

Let's say that you charge $5 more for a certain reservation type during a certain time of year. Here is how you would enter that in Gingr:
