Set Up Custom Animal Icons

Overview: What are we talking about?

In Gingr, you can assign meaning to icons. Icons can be assigned to animal profiles to alert you of important pieces of information. Icons will appear alongside the animal’s name in most places across Gingr. Each icon assigned to an animal can have a note related to each icon that is specific to that animal as well.  

Gingr also has system-generated icons for important pieces of information like expiring/expired immunizations, incident reports, and more.

Helpful Hints: Before you begin.

Before you get started, think of important pieces of information that should be present whenever viewing an animal’s name. For example “Fence Jumper” and “Large Dog Playgroup” are commonly set up as custom icons to alert staff of that information.

Set it Up: Let's get started. 

1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Animal Icons.
   
   
2. Under Animal Icons, Add or Edit a color label template (icon) and configure the following fields.
   
   
   • Icon: Choose an icon from the list to represent the meaning of the icon.
     
     
     • For access to thousands of additional icons, you can purchase a FontAwesome Pro license by going to Admin » Custom Animal Icons and then click the “Activate FontAwesome 5 Pro” button when setting up an icon.
       
       
   • Title: Name the icon with the type of information that you want the icon to convey (e.g. “Fence Jumper”, “Humper”, “No Group Play”)
     
     
   • Color: Assign a color to the icon.
     
     
   • Capacity: Optionally assign a capacity to the icon if you want to limit the number of animals with this icon who can be checked in at a given time (e.g. you may want to limit the number of animals with an icon like “Aggressive” in your facility).
     
     
   • Checkout Alert: Select whether or not you want Gingr to show a pop up to alert you that this icon is present when adding a dog with this icon to the shopping cart.
     
     
   • Checkin Alert: Select whether or not you want Gingr to show a pop up to alert you that this icon is present when checking in a dog with this icon.
     
     
   • Reservation Creation Alert: Select whether or not you want Gingr to show a pop up to alert you that this icon is present when creating a reservation for  a dog with this icon.
     
     
   • Owner Details Alert: Select whether or not you want Gingr to show a pop up to alert you that this icon is present when viewing a pet parent profile who has a dog with this icon.
     
     
   • Animal Details Alert: Select whether or not you want Gingr to show a pop up to alert you that this icon is present when viewing that animal’s profile.
     
     
   • Reservation Details Alert: Select whether or not you want Gingr to show a pop up to alert you that this icon is present when viewing the reservation details for an animal with this icon.
     
     
3. Save your changes and go back one page.
   
   
4. Repeat this process to create as many icons as you need.
