Set Up Grooming Services

Overview: What are we talking about?

This article will describe how to set up your individual grooming services.

Helpful Hints: Before you begin.

  • In Gingr, Grooming services are set up as Additional Services. Services like a Full Groom, Mini Groom, Face Feet & Fanny, Bath & Brush, etc. are all set up as Additional Services, not reservation types. Then, any add-on options that are available for these services, for example, Nail Trim, Ear Cleaning, Gland Expression, Teeth Brushing, etc., will bet set up as Service Options.

  • If you have not yet, take a moment to list out the Grooming services you offer and how they fit into this concept of Top Level Services and Add-On Services.

  • You should already have a reservation type that is generically called “Grooming Services” and we will now create the specific type of grooming services that will be scheduled with that reservation type.

Set it Up: Let's get started.

Step 1: Set up the additional service

  1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Reservation Types and Services Configuration.

  2. Locate your Grooming Services booking category and reservation type.

  3. Click Manage Services, select Create a new Additional Service and configure the following fields:

    • Name: Enter the name of this grooming service.

      • We recommend having a naming scheme for your services. For example “Grooming Service | Full Groom” and “Grooming Service | Bath & Brush” both start with “Grooming Services” to easily categorize and view your services.

    • Allowed Locations: Select which location(s) this service can be added for.

    • Description: Input the description of this service as you would want to brand or describe it to your customers.

      • If you have variable pricing based on breed, weight, coat, etc, then we recommend adding a table to the description to easily categorize your starting prices for customers.

    • Apply Tax: Set to yes if this service should have tax charged.

    • Is scheduled: Set to Appointment Based and fill in the fields below:

      • Duration: the average duration of this service (if the duration varies, set the most common duration). Enter this number in minutes.

      • Interval: set the frequency that you want appointment times to display. For example, an interval of 30 minutes would allow a service to be scheduled at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, etc.

      • Default Start Time: In military time, set the earliest possible time that this service can be scheduled.

    • Auto Charge Last Time: Set this to yes if this is a variably priced service.

      • Gingr will allow you to set the price for a pet and Gingr will remember that price for the next time a pet comes in.

    • Frequency Options: Add any needed frequency options for this service.

      • Typically a frequency of Once is all that is needed for Grooming services.

    • To learn more about the other settings for services, click here.

  4. Save your changes by clicking the blue Create button.

  5. Repeat for any other grooming services you offer.

Step 2: Set the rate for your new grooming services

  1. From your grooming reservation type, click the "rates" button that displays next to the name.

  2. Choose your Location.

    • If you have more than one location, you’ll want to set the rate for your additional services at each of the locations that you offer those services.

  3. Click the Additional Services tab.

  4. Set the base rate for the services attached to this reservation type.

    • If this is a variably priced service, leave the rate at $00.00. You will be able to set the price per pet and Gingr will remember that price the next time the pet comes in for that service.

  5. Save your rates.

Once your services have been created, you will need to add them to a Specialist Schedule in order to book them. Check out Specialist Schedules for assistance.
