Overview: What are we talking about?

In this article, we will show you how to log into Gingr, and how to use the Quick Login to toggle between user account logins.

This article includes:

Helpful Hint: Before you begin.

  • It is highly recommended that each of your staff members using Gingr has their own User account and logs in each time they are working in the app. This is because Gingr allows you to keep everybody accountable (see the History page in your app) and allows you to set different User Permissions for each User.

How to: Login to Gingr.

Logging In

  1. Navigate to https://companyname.gingrapp.com (replace "companyname" with your subdomain).

  2. Enter your email address and password.

Important! If you were provided a temporary password, we highly recommend you immediately change it.

  3. Optionally, select Remember Me to save your info for the next login.

  4. Click Sign In:

  5. Once logged in your name appears in the upper right of the app.

Forgot Password

In the event that an employee password is forgotten, a password reset can be requested from the Gingr employee login page.

  1. Navigate to https://companyname.gingrapp.com (replace "companyname" with your subdomain).

  2. From this page, you will enter the email address associated with your account and click the forgot password button

  3. You will then receive an email to that account with a link to reset your password. After this is reset you can then log in with your new password from the employee login page.

Changing Users

Multiple staff members on one computer or device are no problem! You can quickly toggle between Users with the Quick-Login feature.
  1. Select the Location and User name from the drop-down list.

  2. Type in your password and press the ENTER key.

Logging into Gingr with a Google Account

Gingr has integrated with Google Accounts, enabling users to log in using their Google username/password.

There are 2 easy steps to log into Gingr with Google:

  • The email address on both Google and Gingr must be identical. To learn more about user accounts in Gingr, click here.
  • The user's Gingr account must be in a group with the Can Login With Google permission. To learn more about permissions in Gingr, click here.

After completing these steps, you can log into Gingr by clicking on the "Sign in With Google" button (shown above).

Logging into Gingr with a Yubikey

Gingr offers a Yubikey integration, which allows users to log in using a physical device instead of usernames and passwords. This streamlines identity management as well as the log in process. All Yubikey versions are compatible with Gingr.

1. Purchase Yubikeys

Yubikeys are available from Amazon and the official Yubico website. Each user will need their own Yubikey.

2. Assign Yubikeys to Users

  1. Navigate to the Edit User page for the user you wish to assign the Yubikey to. This is located in Left-hand Navigation: Reports & More » Users » Edit User.
  2. Locate the Yubikeys section and click on the Add New Yubikey button.

  3. When prompted, plug the Yubikey into a USB port and tap the Y button on top of the device.

  4. If successful, you will receive a green Success message on the screen. The most common reason a failure would occur is that the Yubikey has already been associated with another account.

3. Log In With Yubikey
  1. Navigate to the Gingr login page (log out if you are currently logged in).

  2. Click on the Sign In With Yubikey button.

  3. Once the Yubikey icon has been replaced with the spinning icon, plug the Yubikey into a USB port and tap the Y button on top of the device.

  4. You should now be logged in!

Logging into Gingr with Multi-Factor Authorization (MFA)

In accordance with best security practices as well as following industry security standards, Gingr is now implementing multi-factor authorization (MFA) capabilities for its users. MFA will be required for all admin user accounts as well as include an opt-in feature for other non-admin user groups. For more information on this, please visit our help article: Multi-Factor Authorization (MFA) for Gingr Accounts

There are 3 steps to log into Gingr using MFA:

1. To sign into Gingr using MFA, login normally. When you sign in the first time, you will be routed to a separate login page like the one in screenshot below.Screenshot (252).png

2. By default, you will be sent a one-time password (OTP) to the email address your account is using in Gingr. To find the OTP, simply log into that email address and look for an email from MFA Admin (adminmfa@gingrapp.com) labeled Your Gingr Authentication Code

3. Once you have located the email, input the 6 digit code. You'll be taken to another page where you can setup 2-Factor Authentication for your account. Alternatively, you can also skip this step and do it at a later time using the Skip Setup button at the bottom of the page.

4. After either completing or skipping the 2FA OTP set-up, you will be logged into the app normal and MFA setup will be complete!

Logging into Gingr with Microsoft Single Sign-On (SSO)

Gingr now offers Microsoft Single Sign-On to allow employees to use their Microsoft account to sign into Gingr! For a more in-depth look at how to do this, as well as for troubleshooting tips, please head over to our help article on this feature: Microsoft Single Sign-On (SSO)

Important things to note about this:

  • The user's email used to log into Microsoft must match their email in Gingr to log in correctly.
  • Your user group must have the Can Login With Microsoft permission to sign in with Microsoft SSO.

To sign in using SSO:
1. On your first sign-in attempt, you will be asked to accept permissions from the gingr-businessportal-oauth to read your basic user profile details from Microsoft.Microsoft_SSO_Permission.png

2.Accepting this permission will allow Gingr to access your certain basic profile details in read-only mode and is required to authenticate your Microsoft account with our business portal. After accepting, the authentication process will continue and you will be logged into Gingr!

After completing these steps, you can log into Gingr via SSO!

FAQ: Check this out!

I can't log in and get an error message saying I'm temporarily locked out.

To inhibit fraudulent login attempts, if you enter your password incorrectly too many times, Gingr will temporarily lock you out of your account.

  • After 5 incorrect login attempts, you will be locked out for 5 minutes.
  • 2 more incorrect login attempts will lock you out for an additional 25 minutes
  • 3 more incorrect attempt and you'll be locked out for 625 minutes

If this happens to you and you can get someone else to login with their account and change your password for you on the Users page, please do that. If you cannot, please submit a support ticket through this site and we will help you.

Why am I being asked to login when I was already logged in?

Occasionally, due to browser caching, you may get 'booted out' and asked to log back in. If this happens repeatedly, you can try 2 things to resolve the issue.

  1. Clear your browser's cache.

    Instructions for Chrome.

    Instructions for Firefox.

Instructions for Safari. (Apple made it a little more complicated! We do not recommend using Safari to access Gingr)

[Gingr does not support Internet Explorer / Microsoft Edge.]

  2. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » User Account Settings » Logout All Sessions.

This will clear Gingr's user sessions (everybody will be logged out), redirect you to the login page, and you'll have a new session with a new cookie.

If you've done both of the above things and you are still getting booted out, please submit a help ticket!
