In order to save a new profile, a pet needs to be added during creation. If you need to transfer an existing pet but do not have an owner account for the new owner, you will need to create a new account with a placeholder pet. Once you transfer the existing pet to the new owner, you can delete the placeholder.

Add Existing Pet to a New Owner

1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation Menu: Owners & Pets » New Record.
   
   
   
   
2. Fill in all applicable details for the new owner, then click "Continue to Next Step" at the bottom of the form.
   
   
3. On the animal creation form, enter all required details with placeholder information. Click Save at the bottom of the form.
   
   
4. Navigate to the Edit Profile page of the animal that is changing ownership.
   
   
5. Click "Change Animal Owner" in the upper right corner.
   
   
   
   
6. Select the new owner account you would like to transfer the pet to.
   
   
   
   
7. Click Save. The animal is now transferred to the new owner and you will be redirected to the edit page for that pet on the new owner's account.
   
   
8. Navigate to the View All Pets table from the Left-hand Navigation Menu: Owners & Pets » View All Pets.
   
   
   
   
9. Filter the table to find your placeholder pet. Scroll all the way to the far right column. In the Delete Record Column, click the Delete? button.
   

   Reference:  This button is only present for animals with no reservation history.

   
   
   
10. Confirm the deletion by clicking "Yes" on the popup.
    
    

Now you have transferred the existing pet to a new owner record.
