Connect Stripe Reader S700 to Gingr Payments (How-To)

Article Details

Gingr Payments powered by Stripe is a payment processing solution that has a credit card terminal that fully syncs to Gingr for customers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. This article will review how to set up your Stripe Reader S700 and connect it to Gingr Payments.

Before You Begin
A user must have Admin permissions to order or connect a terminal.

Caution: If you already own a Stripe Reader S700 from a previous Stripe account, see our article Repurpose Existing Stripe Credit Card Terminal for Gingr Payments.

Set Up Your Stripe Reader S700

  1. Connect the reader to power using the provided USB-C cable and power adapter. The S700 requires 12W of power to operate properly — we recommend using the cable and adapter that shipped with your device.
  2. Once charged, hold down the power button on the right side of the device until the screen turns on. Pressing the power button once sleeps or wakes the device; to fully power off, hold the button down until the power-off option appears, then select it.
    • With a full charge, the S700 battery lasts about 15 hours. Leave the reader plugged in and powered on when not in use so it can receive automatic software updates.
  3. Proceed to Connect Your S700 to the Internet.

Connect Your S700 to the Internet

  1. To open the settings menu, swipe right from the left edge of the reader screen and tap Settings. You'll be prompted for an admin passcode — contact Gingr Support if you don't have this on hand.
  2. From the settings menu, select WiFi Settings and connect to your business WiFi network.
    • If you'd rather not connect over WiFi, the S700 also supports a wired connection through an optional Ethernet hub and dock, available for separate purchase.
  3. Proceed to Connect to the Gingr App.

Connect to the Gingr App
Once your terminal is powered on and connected to the internet, you can connect it to your Gingr app.

  1. From the settings menu, select Generate Pairing Code to display a registration code on the terminal screen.
  2. Navigate to Book Icon » Reports » Gingr Payments Dashboard » Card Readers.
    • Alternatively, provision terminals from Admin » Credit Card Processing » Gingr Payments Dashboard » Card Readers.
  3. Select +Add Terminal. You'll be prompted for a Registration Code and Label.
    • Registration Code: Enter the code generated on your terminal screen in step 1.
    • Label: This will be the name of the device as it appears in Gingr.
  4. Select the Add button.
