Add Additional Locations (How-To)

Article Details

Whether you're opening a new facility or just adding another location to Gingr, we've got you covered. There are a couple of ways to go about this, depending on how the locations interact with each other.

Important: Pricing for Gingr is per location, so an additional location with a unique URL will be dependent on the product-pricing tier that you choose.

Choosing Between Same URL and Separate URL

When adding an additional location, Gingr offers two options: adding the new location to your existing URL, or creating a separate URL. Each option offers different advantages depending on how your business operates.

Option 1: Same URL (Shared App)

The new location lives within your existing Gingr URL. Customers and most settings are shared across locations, but some elements (like pricing) can be customized.

Why choose this?
Ideal for businesses that want to maintain centralized operations and allow customers to book at any location using a single login.

Key Details:

    • Shared Customer Database: Pet Parents can book at any location using one account.
    • Toggle Between Locations: Staff can switch between locations within one app login.
    • Shared Communication Settings: SMS & email templates, forms, and immunizations are universal across all locations.
    • Shared Services & Portal Visibility: Reservation types and service descriptions are system-wide. To hide a service at one location, remove its base rate.
    • Shared Forms & Agreements: Forms and agreement types are shared, but visibility can be adjusted using separate reservation types.
    • Customizable Per Location:
      • Rates and pricing rules
      • Lodgings
      • Deposits
      • Hours of operation
      • Specialist schedules, group classes, and capacity groups
      • Coupons, open line items, and daily checklist items
    • Packages: Must be created separately per location. Can be used across locations if the system setting is enabled.
    • Reporting: In-app reporting is available across all locations.

Tip: Best for businesses that want operational consistency and centralized management, with light customization by location.

Option 2: Separate URL (Independent Apps)

Each location has its own unique Gingr URL and setup, with no shared data or settings between them.

Why choose this?
Ideal for businesses with distinct brands, unique service offerings, or separate management structures per location.

Key Details:

    • Separate Customer Bases: Customers will need to register individually at each location.
    • Independent Setup: Each location has full control over:
      • Services, rates, and descriptions
      • Taxes
      • Portal visibility and frequency settings
      • Packages and pricing rules
      • Reporting preferences and account codes
    • No Shared Communication Settings: SMS, email templates, and portal customizations are fully independent.
    • Reporting: Reports are separate per location. Business Intelligence (BI) reporting is available via database access if consolidated reporting is needed.
    • Admin Autonomy: Staff can change system-wide settings without affecting other locations.
    • Timezone-Friendly: Recommended for locations across multiple time zones to avoid booking issues.

Tip:  Best for Franchises, distinct brands, or businesses needing full autonomy per location.

Important: If you’re unsure which structure fits best, consider how much operational consistency you want across locations. If you want all locations to behave like branches of the same business, the Same URL is likely best. If each location runs independently with different services, branding, or management, a Separate URL is more flexible.

Next Steps

Important: Once your payment is approved, your location will need to be created.

  • If you choose to have a unique URL:
A Gingr team member will need to create this for you. They will use the information that you submitted on the sign-up form and you will receive an email with login information within 1 business day.

  • If you chose to use the same URL:
You will be directed to a page within your application where you can add your new location and copy over settings.

The settings that are copied will come from the first location that you set up with Gingr. The New Location Name is what will appear in your app when toggling between locations. This can be changed later by going to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Location Info.

Form for creating a new location.

Your new location will now appear within the drop down in the top left corner of your app. You may need to clear your cache if you don't see it right away.
