Configure Location Tax Settings (How-To)

In Gingr, you have a tax rate that can apply to anything you sell in Gingr. You can control what your tax rate is and what items are charged tax on multiple levels. 

 

Before You Begin

  • If you are unsure of your local sales tax amounts or laws, please reach out to your local government resources or financial advisors.

 

Configure Location Tax Settings

  1. Navigate to Left-hand Navigation: Admin » Tax Settings.

  2. Configure the following settings under Location Settings:

    • Tax on Reservations: If you are required by your local government to collect sales tax on any reservation sales, then set this to yes. You can control whether or not specific reservation types are taxed or not when setting up those specific types of reservations.

    • Tax on Open Items: If you are required by your local government to collect sales tax on any open item sales, then set this to yes. You can control whether or not specific open item types are taxed or not when setting up those specific types of open items.

    • Tax on Services: If you are required by your local government to collect sales tax on any service sales, then set this to yes. You can control whether or not specific service types are taxed or not when setting up those specific types of services.

    • Tax on Packages: If you sell packages and you are required by your local government to collect sales tax on any package sales, then set this to yes. You can control whether or not specific package types are taxed or not when setting up those specific types of packages

      • A package in Gingr is commonly called a punch card. An example of a package might be “10 Day Daycare Package”.

    • Tax on Retail items: If you sell retail items and you are required by your local government to collect sales tax on any retail sales, then set this to yes. You can control whether or not specific retail items are taxed or not when setting up those specific items.

    • Sales Tax Rate: enter your total sales tax rate as a decimal.

      • If you have a sales tax of 8.5%, then you would input it as .085 in Gingr.
