Article Details
A Group Class is a series of training classes with pre-set dates. When you enroll a customer, they can optionally pay for the entire series of classes upfront using a package.
To track class usage and class payment we will utilize the package feature in Gingr. Customers can purchase the package through the customer portal at the time of enrollment to pay for the program.
Warning: These steps must be completed in the order outlined to successfully set up group classes. This is step 3 of 5.
Before You Begin
You should have already:
Create a New Group Class Package
Important: This rate will be what each credit is worth within the package you've created or what it costs for each session of this type of class if you are not using a package.
Group Class packages use the Package Configuration Modal, where you will create a single component that includes the number of sessions in the program.
Follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open Packages & Subscriptions
Navigate to Admin » Packages & Subscriptions.
Select + Add to open the Package Configuration Modal.
Step 2: Configure Package Details (Details Tab)
Fill in the basic information for the Group Class package.
Details Tab Fields
Status: Enable if the package should be available for sale.
Package Name: The name shown to staff and pet parents (e.g., Puppy Basics | 6x Sessions). It's recommended to label the package the same as the name of your group class.
Internal Package Name (optional): A unique internal label for staff tracking.
Enabled on Pet Parent Portal: If enabled, customers are able to purchase the package separately from signing up for the class. It's recommended to keep this setting disabled.
Select Locations: Choose the location(s) where this package/class is offered.
Description (optional): Include program details such as included sessions, policies, or prerequisites.
Step 3: Add Group Class Credits (Credits Tab)
Each package contains one or more components. For Group Classes, you will typically configure one component representing the number of class sessions purchased.
Component Fields
Component Name: Example: Puppy Basics Credit
Credit Type: Select Reservation
Reservation Type: Select your Group Class Reservation Type
Quantity: Enter the number of class sessions in the program (e.g., 4, 6, 8)
-
Expiration Rules: Choose whether credits expire:
Never
X days after purchase
X days after first use
If your program has a timeline (e.g., must complete sessions within 60 days), configure expiration accordingly. We do not recommend having multiple components within Group Class packages.
Step 4: Set Pricing & Tax (Financial Tab)
Use the Financial tab to set the total price for the Group Class package.
Financial Tab Fields
Use Configuration pricing rules when on other reservation types: When a credit for this package is applied to a different type of reservation, then the package credit value will respect the configured reservation type’s pricing rules instead of the reservation type the credit is being applied to. It is recommended to keep this disabled for
Rate Groups: Each location must belong to a rate group. If the price is the same across all locations, you can select all locations and have one rate group. If separate pricing for each location, you will need to select +Add Rate Group and identify the price.
Price: Enter the total price of the Group Class program (not per credit).
Tax Package Component: Enable if applicable based on your tax policies.
Base Rate Of: Select the rate for this component when applied to the reservation.
Add Rate: Use only if you want to schedule future price changes.
Step 5: Configure Communication Preferences (Communication Tab)
If desired, you may configure automated reminder emails related to credit usage.
Email Reminder at # Credits Remaining: Notify pet parents as they near the end of their program.
Email Reminder at # Days to Expiration: Notify pet parents before credits expire (if expiration is enabled).
This step is optional for Group Classes, but some facilities find reminders helpful.
Step 6: Save the Package
Select Save to complete setup. The package will now display in the Packages & Subscriptions list and can be used during Group Class enrollment and payment.
