Barcode Already in Use Error (Troubleshooting)

If you are receiving an error that the "barcode is already in use" when trying to edit or create a new owner record, this is related to the Key Tag Barcode field type on the owner form.

 

This error indicates that there is more than one owner in your application that shares the same value in the Key Tag Barcode field.

 

Solution

If you use the Barcode feature for Quick Check-In, ensure that all owners have a unique value entered in this field. Additionally, ensure that browser auto-fill is disabled on any computers that you use to create or edit owner records in Gingr. This field type can be auto-filled by your browser and could be the reason that you are seeing duplicates.

If you do not use the Barcode feature, you can remove this field from your Owner Form by going to Left-Hand Navigation: Admin » Owner Form and deleting that field type.
