Issue
I can't log in and get an error message saying I'm temporarily locked out.
Solution
To inhibit fraudulent login attempts, if you enter your password incorrectly too many times, Gingr will temporarily lock you out of your account.
- After 5 incorrect login attempts, you will be locked out for 5 minutes.
- 2 more incorrect login attempts will lock you out for an additional 25 minutes
- 3 more incorrect attempt and you'll be locked out for 625 minutes
If this happens to you, an admin user in your app can manually clear the lockouts from the Users page. You can then request a Password Reset email from the login page to reset your password.
Danger: Do not clear lockouts for IP addresses you cannot identify. Many lockouts are valid security measures that protect your account from unauthorized access. Review the login details carefully before deleting an entry.
Caution: If you are an admin and are unsure about clearing an IP address lockout, reach out to our Support team. We can help confirm whether the lockout should be removed and guide you through the process if needed.
Clearing IP Address Lockouts
If you have Admin permissions, you can view and clear IP address lockouts directly in Gingr. This is useful for restoring access when a trusted user has been mistakenly locked out.
How to Clear an IP Lockout
-
Navigate to Reports & More » Users.
-
Select Manage Lockouts at the top of the page.
- On the Manage User Lockouts page, locate the IP address you want to clear.
-
Click the checkbox next to the IP address and select the option to Delete or Clear the lockout.
-
Confirm the action. The IP address will be removed from the list, allowing future login attempts.
