Article Details
This article explains the different ways employees can log in to Gingr, the security requirements for each method, and how to use Quick Login to switch between accounts.
Why Individual Logins Matter
Each staff member should have their own unique user account and log in whenever they are working in the app.
This allows Gingr to:
-
Track individual activity through the History page
-
Apply custom User Permissions to control access
-
Maintain accurate audit trails for security and accountability
Gingr allows you to see the History page in your app and set different User Permissions for each User.
Sign-In Options
Gingr supports multiple sign-in methods:
-
Email & Password Login – Requires a strong password that meets Gingr’s strict security standards.
-
Single Sign-On (SSO) – Log in using Google, Microsoft, or YubiKey authentication.
-
Quick Login – Switch between accounts without fully logging out.
Important: Email-based logins must have a strong password that is updated at least once every 90 days. Passwords must meet Gingr’s complexity requirements: minimum of 12 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a special character. SSO logins bypass Gingr’s password requirements because password security and reset schedules are managed by the SSO provider (Google, Microsoft, or YubiKey administrator). Gingr’s password and login security measures are designed to protect sensitive business and customer data.
Using Quick Login
Quick Login allows you to toggle between accounts without logging out completely. This feature is helpful for shared devices or when switching between multiple accounts during a shift.
Quick Login Setup:
- Enable user permissions for Google, Microsoft, or YubiKey SSO in Groups settings.
- Assign YubiKeys if using that method.
- Navigate to Admin » Employees » User Account Settings.
- Enable 'Require Alternate Authentication Login Method' toggle.
This enforces quick login via SSO, preventing email/password login and streamlining secure access.
