  • We recommend that you contact us at least 2 weeks before the effective date so that no one is rushed, and everything can get ironed out before the new owner goes live.

New Merchant Account with CardConnect

When applying for a new merchant account, there are a few things to be aware of ahead of time:

  • Depending on the type of terminal that is currently in use, it may or may not be able to be re-provisioned to the new MID.

    • Clover Devices (CardConnect): With Clover Mini and Flex terminals, the MID is programmed to each individual card terminal by serial number and is hard-coded into the device. This means that the new owner will need to purchase a NEW terminal that is associated with their own merchant account. This will be done during the application process and can take 5-7 days for delivery.

Important:  The new owner cannot use the original terminal. If they do, all funds processed will be deposited to the existing bank account and the previous owner will be responsible for getting those to the new owner.

    • Ingenico Devices (CardConnect): Ingenico Lane terminals can be reprovisioned to new MIDs. Please request that the terminal be reprovisioned to the new MID by contacting support@gingrapp.com after the new owners have competed their application.

    • To review the available CardConnect terminals, their pricing, and their features, please see our Terminal Order Form. There is a section on the merchant account application to order terminals.

  • If your business relies heavily on cards stored on file, the new owner will need to request that those are ported over to their merchant account during the application process. They can simply email credit@gingrapp.com once the application is submitted to let them know that this needs to be completed. The previous and new owners will need to sign a provided application.

New Merchant Account with Gingr Payments

Important: If you are currently processing with Gingr Payments and the new owner would like to continue using Gingr Payments, please notify Gingr Support in your notification email.

  • Currently, Gingr Payments account changeovers require that the original account be removed from the Gingr App the night before sale of business. The new owner will be able to immediately set up a new account and begin processing.

    • Reporting data will be wiped from the Gingr Payments Dashboard once the account is removed.

    • Please export all Payout and all Transaction data from the Gingr Payments Dashboard after close of business the night before changeover to ensure minimal payment/transaction reporting discrepancies.

    • Reporting and payment data will persist in the Revenue Reports.

  • Wise POS E Terminals (Gingr Payments): If the facility currently uses a Gingr Payments terminal, you will be able to repurpose the terminal for the new account. To do so, please follow our article on How to Repurpose your Stripe WisePOS E Credit Card Terminal for Gingr Payments. [LINK]

    • If you would like to place an order for a new Wise POS terminal, you can do so from the Gingr Payments Dashboard > Card Readers tab once the new account is set up.

  • Gingr Payments saved cards on file are ported over instantly.
