Collect Signature via SMS (How-To)

Article Details

Before You Begin

Customers who are opted out of Transactional SMS (formerly called System Generated SMS) will not receive agreements via text message. These customers have not given Gingr permission to send or receive automated messages such as confirmations, report cards, or agreements.

To send an Agreement via SMS, the customer must first opt in to Transactional SMS. While businesses can adjust this setting on behalf of the customer, it’s critical to obtain explicit consent before doing so. Opting a customer in without permission may violate SMS regulations and could put your business at legal risk, depending on your jurisdiction.

In accordance with current regulations from our SMS provider, Twilio, new customers are opted out by default. Businesses have limited ability to change communication preferences. These updates ensure customers have full control over how they receive messages and help maintain successful message delivery.

For steps to make opt-in settings visible to staff, refer to SMS Opt-in and Opt-out (How-To).

Additional Notes

  • When agreements are sent via SMS, Gingr automatically includes the agreements required for that customer’s location:

    • For customers signing during enrollment: agreements for their Home Location are sent.

    • For customers signing during a booking request: agreements for the Booking Location are sent.

  • Each completed signature automatically records the signing location, along with the signer’s name, date, and IP address.

  • The SMS link expires after use for security and cannot be forwarded to another customer.

  • Staff permissions that control access to send or override agreements are managed in Reports & More > Groups > App Permissions.
