Configure Star TSP 100 Settings on PC

  1. First, make sure your Star TSP printer is plugged in to your computer, the power cord is plugged into a power outlet, and the printer is switched on.

    Important:  if you have never set up this printer on your device before, please complete steps within Prepare Star TSP Printer and Install Star TSP Drivers articles before moving on to step 2

  2. Next, make sure that the printer's settings are correct. You can do this by navigating to Printers and Scanners or Bluetooth & Scanners >> Printers and Scanners on your Windows Control Panel:

    • Older Windows:




    • Newer Windows:


  3. Under your list of printers, locate the checkbox "Let Windows manage my default printer" and uncheck that box.

  4. Locate the Star TSP printer, right click on it, and select Set Default.

  5. On that same menu, select Printing preferences.

    • Older Windows:


    • Newer Windows:


  6. On the Layout tab, make sure that Portrait is selected. On the Paper/Quality tab, ensure that the paper source is set to FRICTION. Then click Advanced.




  7. On the Advanced Options window, change the paper size to 72mm x Receipt. Click OK, and then click OK again.


  8. Once you're on the Printers and Devices screen again, right-click on the TSP 100 (143) icon and select Printer properties.

    • Older Windows:


    • Newer Windows:


  9. On the Ports tab, make sure Enable bidirectional support is checked.



  10. On the Advanced tab, change the radio button to Print directly to the printer.



  11. On the Device Settings tab, change the following:

    • FRICTION to 72mm x 200mm

    • Page Cut Type to No Cut

      Reference:  On some devices, "Partial Cut" for Paper Cut Type can be used if "No Cut" is causing paper printing length issues.

    • Document Cut Type to Partial Cut

    • Peripheral Unit Type to Cash Drawer

    • Peripheral Unit 1 to Document Top

      Notice:  select Document Bottom if setting up PrintNode integration

  12. Click Apply, then click on the General tab.

  13. On the General tab, click on Preferences. In the new window, click Advanced. Change Paper size to 72mm x Receipt.


  14. Click OK.

  15. Back on the General tab, click the Print Test Page button to make sure your receipt printer is being recognized by your PC.
