Configure Star TSP 100 Settings on Mac

  1. First, make sure your Star TSP printer is plugged in to your computer via USB, the power cord is plugged into a power outlet, and the printer is switched on.

    Important:  if you have never set up this printer on your device before, please complete steps within Prepare Star TSP Printer and Install Star TSP Drivers articles before moving on to step 2

  2. Next, make sure that the printer's settings are correct. You can do this by opening a web browser page and navigating to http://localhost:631/printers and logging in using your computer's username and password. 

    Tip:  To locate your computer's username open a Finder window and on the upper left select "Go" >> Home to see the computer's username.

  3. Select your printer from the list of active printers.

  4. On the Administration dropdown, select Modify Printer

  5. On that menu, select the usb connection.

  6. Select Continue.

  7. Set the Description (printer name) and Location (printer location) as desired.

  8. Select Continue.

  9. On this new page, make sure the Make is set to your Printer's make (i.e. STAR) and select the current driver option (it should match your printer's model).

  10. Select Modify Printer to save these settings.

  11. Go back to the in-browser Printers tab and select your printer from the list again but this time select Set Default Options

  12. Make sure the following tab settings are configured correctly:

    • General:

      Media size selection interface

    • Output Options

      Print settings menu with options.
    • Cut Options

      Cut Options menu with dropdown selections.

    • Cash Drawer Control

  13. After setting these default options perform the following:

    • power off your printer

    • restart your computer

    • once computer is rebooted

    • turn on your printer

    • re-open 

    • http://localhost:631/printers

    • From the Maintenance dropdown select Print Test Page to verify your printer is working. If you are using a cash drawer it should also be "popped" open with this test.
